Manchester City’s Gareth Barry praised team-mate Carlos Tevez after the striker scored two goals in the 2-1 win over Manchester United at Eastlands. City fell behind to an early Ryan Giggs goal, but Tevez netted either side of half-time to give his side the lead going into next week's League Cup semi-final second leg, and Barry believes Tevez’s display was key to City’s victory.
Barry said: "Carlos played a key part in the win. All the talk before the game was about him, but he went out there and did his own talking on the pitch. Despite the one goal advantage, Barry was quick to add that the tie had a long way to go.
"The tie is definitely still in the balance. We know we are going to get a tough game at Old Trafford but we will be up for the battle," he continued. "The atmosphere was great, and we hope we can give the fans something to shout about in the second leg."
Two-goal hero Tevez - who ran tirelessly before being substituted after 78 minutes - added: "I feel very tired now, but it was very special for me to score two goals against United."
