BARRY READY TO RETURN

The experienced defender of Manchester City, Gareth Barry, is ready to return in the City’s squad after recovering from the injury. The manager of Manchester City, Roberto Mancini, would have been quite relieved by this news. The performance of City’s defense hasn’t been up to the mark in the ongoing season so far, with five goals conceded in three matches. Man City news ran a poll that suggests that 90% of the fans want Barry back in the first team as soon as possible!

Barry has played two matches for City’s Elite Development Squad against Middlesbrough and Liverpool respectively. He played for 45 minutes against Middlesbrough and 80 minutes for Liverpool. The way he was moving on the field, it seemed that he has got rid of the injury and he is fit enough to play football at top level. Barry was a part of the England squad for the Euro Cup 2012, but, he discovered a groin injury and wasn’t able to play in the tournament. He had to go through a hernia surgery which ruled him out of the game for one and half months. After recovering, he started practicing, but, he injured himself again in a training session.

Barry said that it was frustrating to miss the Euro Cup due to the injury. It was a golden opportunity to perform well at the international level. The last three months were not easy for him. But, he is happy to have regained his fitness early in the season. He would try to give his best for the team. Roberto Mancini said that Barry is an experienced defender and his comeback would definitely strengthen City’s defense which has struggled in the first three matches of the season. As per Mancini, Barry has looked in good touch in the two matches that he has played for City’s Elite Development squad and hopefully, he would play up to his potential in the ongoing season.
