Barry Sparked Interest With Loan Deal
Gareth Barry completed his loan stay with Everton as the Premier League season concluded a few days ago and so did all of the loan deals which were set to expire at the same time.
Barry made 32 league appearances for Everton and has sparked the interest of not only Everton but many other titans of the top tier English league such as: Asrsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea.
During Barry’s time playing on a temporarily deal with Everton, his performances has motivated Roberto Martinez on keeping the player on an extended period but they will have to pay €2.5 million to Manchester City.
Martinez said: “We respect Gareth and he is at a perfect age to make good decisions not based just on ¬finances. I just hope we can carry on working with Gareth for a long time. I don’t think you can replace Gareth because there are not many footballers with more than 500 games in the Premier League’’.
“He’s a unique talent and I always said that it’s very rare to find a No.6 like that in the English game. He is not a normal footballer. One day he will be a manager. He's got such a bright mind in terms of understanding the game and he is so down to earth for someone who has had so many appearances in the league.’’
Gareth Barry’s contract with Manchester City expires in the summer which will turn the former Aston Villa player into a free agent but due to a clause that was signed in the loan agreement, if Everton wants to sign Barry on a permanent deal they are forced on offloading €2.5 million to the team of Manuel Pellegrini.
James McCarthy and Gareth Barry have formed an impressive partnership in the midfield of Everton during this recently concluded season and Roberto Martinez wants the duo to keep on performing for another campaign.
