Everton loanee Kurt Zouma not giving up on Chelsea career

Everton loanee Kurt Zouma has said that he is confident of making a mark with parent club Chelsea despite going out on loan for the second straight season. The France international only penned a six-year deal with the Blues 12 months ago but he has since failed to make a single competitive appearance for the west London giants.

Despite this, he is unperturbed by the situation and he has the belief that he can break into the Blues setup once he has proved himself with regular gametime, he said: “I will go back, yes. I have always believed in myself since I started playing football at 16. I have always wanted to show myself at Chelsea since I have been there. I want to show people I can come back and play there.

“That’s why I need some game time at Everton here because they are a good team. I knew I needed to play regularly so I didn’t want to stay on the bench and wait for my chance after two or three months. He (Sarri) agreed with me. I spoke with him and I knew at Chelsea they had five central defenders already.”

“Zouma spent the previous season“on loan with Stoke City where he provided a number of good performances but unfortunately, the Potters could not beat the Premier League drop. This has however not hampered his reputation and he now has the opportunity of helping the Toffees to push for a European qualification spot this season.

Everton have certainly made a bright start to the campaign with five points accumulated from the opening three games but“ the results have come at a cost with both Richarlison and Phil Jagielka being sent off. “Aside from this, they have had injury concerns especially in the central defensive department where both Michael Keane and Yerry Mina are sidelined and this should witness more gametime for Zouma during the forthcoming matches.
