Manchester City midfielder Gareth Barry has said that he is extremely overjoyed at the Premier league season that just concluded because it has been is best ever season. The 31-year-old managed to lift his first ever Premier league title this season with Manchester City.

MANCINI BACKS BARRY AS CAPTAIN

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has added the name of The Citizens talisman Gareth Barry as a possible candidate for the vacant England captaincy role ahead of the European Championships 2008.

Mancini’s comments come in the wake of the FA’s removal of Chelsea skipper John Terry as the captain of The Three Lions and the subsequent resignation of manager Fabio Capello.

BARRY WORRYING ABOUT TITLE

Manchester City midfielder Gareth Barry is worrying about their chances of a title win. City have managed to challenge at the top of the table for the majority of the season so far but have suffered setbacks along the way, including the 1-0 loss to Aston Villa in January.

But Barry is now focused on recording a positive result over Birmingham City on Wednesday night - even though the football odds don't look great.

"After a defeat, it is always important to start winning again really quickly," said Gareth Barry.
