VILLA EYEING NEW GARETH BARRY

Aston Villa might have found a new Gareth Barry following the news that the club is interested in a move for Sheffield United midfielder Sande Berge. Norwegian international Berge has been likened to Gareth Barry, who played with distinction for Aston Villa. Gareth Barry also featured for other Premier League teams like Manchester City, Everton and West Brom. Gareth Barry is a legend as far as Premier League football is concerned but Sande Berge still has a long way to go to reach his level. Berge became a Premier League player when the Norwegian midfielder signed for the club last year January. He was a member of the Blades team that finished in the top half of the table at the end of the last campaign. Sheffield United were in the hunt for a place in Europe for this season before the club faded away in the final weeks of last season. Sande Berge has not played much for Sheffield United this season due to a long-term injury. Sheffield United are resigned to relegation from the Premier League this season and into the English Championship ahead of next season even with nine games to play in the league this season. The Blades have just 14 points after 29 games in the Premier League this term and at an average of a little less than 0.5 point per match. Sheffield United were 12 points adrift of safety ahead of last weekend but that has increased to 14 points after the heavy defeat at the hands of Leicester City. Nigerian striker Kelechi Iheanacho scored three goals as the Foxes handed out a 5-0 defeat to Sheffield United in the first game without Chris Wilder at the club. Wilder was sacked as the Sheffield United boss at the weekend just before the Leicester City match and Paul Heckingbottom was named the interim manager and he was previously the u-23 manager at Sheffield United before the club gave him the current role.

Aston Villa and Liverpool are interested in signing Sande Berge from Sheffield United this summer according to Eurosport. Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are also keen on securing the transfer of the player.

WESTBROM AND CELTIC BATTLE FOR DIANGANA

Championship side West Bromwich Albion are hoping to land Grady Diangana on a permanent basis but they face competition from Scottish champs Celtic, per reports. The West Ham academy product was on loan to the Albion in the 2019/20 season and he impressed. Westbrom pray to add him to their ranks but it will cost almost 15 million pounds per the Hammers valuation.
Former West Ham manager Slaven Bilic, who now handles the Albion, rates the winger highly especially after his impressive performances in the Championship. The 22-year old loanee scored seven times in 28 games, assisting six times as Westbrom target a return to the topflight. Diangana alongside another loanee Matheus Pereira lit up the season for Westbrom.
Bilic is betting they make a return to the Premier League with the expected cashflow enough to fund Diangana’s deal and lure him beyond Celtic. The Scots are hoping West Ham decide to loan him for another season rather than sell. If they want to sell, the Bhoys would not be able to buy as their record signing Odsonne Edouard cost less then ten million pounds. It’s unlikely Celtic will sell their star striker to fund a permanent move for Diangana.
Lee Hendrie says he had a chat with Premier League legend Gareth Barry about Diangrana’s future at Westbrom. The former England star says according to Barry the 22-year old will continue at the club as the fans and team like him and want him to remain.
Westbrom are in second place in the Championship with 82 points after 44 games. Leeds are two points ahead with a game in hand. The deal rests on Westbrom getting the second automatic qualifier spot and Westham willing to part with their rising star.

Richarlison added that while the break helped with family time, it could also hamper the match fitness of the players. Luckily for him, he has enough space in his house and a small gym which he has utilized daily to remain fit. He admits that despite the personal training it would take a few days of work to return to full match fitness when the team gathers.

GARETH BARRY BACKS WEST BROM COACH

Former Manchester City midfielder Gareth Barry, now playing for West Brom says Slaven Bilic has all it takes to take the Albion squad to next season’s top-flight league.
The former England international has hardly featured regularly under Bilic this season and that didn’t stop the veteran from acknowledging what the gaffer has brought to the club.

Barry has been on the receiving end of diminishing returns. Plagued with injuries at almost every turn of the season, the former Everton man has made the case of featuring for West Brom harder for the coach to decide on. Even when he is desperately needed, his latest back injury kept him out of offering any assistance to the squad.
Last season’s play-off was between Aston Villa and West Brom and the former managed to beat the latter to the ticket. Gareth Barry’s absence played a big part in helping Villa qualify.

EVERTON LACK OF MIDFIELD QUALITY IS AFFECTING THE TEAM

Everton manager Marco Silva has been under pressure this season, with the club failing to display any consistency this season. The Portuguese tactician was in a similar situation last season but was able to survive with a series of impressive results towards the end of the season.

However, it appears that this period could be different as Everton have an unbalanced squad, which he has tried to manage this season. One area where the team is lacking options is in central midfield.
